Aim for the Moon

I’ve been bombarded with articles and quotes about “Goal Setting” this morning. Not only did I wake up planning to write down some of my important goals but when I checked Twitter and LinkedIn, I noticed a trend of articles posted about setting your goals. In an article by Sandeep Kashyap, founder of, he explains why you should set unrealistically high goals. He writes, “People who set powerful goals are the ones who become successful in life. They remind you of your capabilities and what you need to become in order to accomplish those goals…they allow you to aim high, reinvent yourself, and to go beyond your best.” Kashyap then outlines some golden rules about goals setting:
1. Set goals that frighten you.
2. Write down your goals.
3. Make your goals S.M.A.R.T.
– Specific
– Measurable
– Attainable
– Realistic
– Time-Bound
“Always remember that nothing is impossible to achieve for those who aim for the Moon. All you have to do is to set big goals and get moving.”
It also appears to be important to share these goals with someone, to have an accountability partner who can remind you to stay focused but also to hold you accountable regularly. Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.
