What Is Trust?

Brene Brown shared her thoughts on “Trust” on YouTube, and of course, she is an inspiring researcher who speaks about what we are all thinking about. Brown quoted Charles Feltman’s definition of Trust and Distrust as this.
“Trust is choosing to make something important to you, vulnerable to the actions of someone else. Distrust is what I have shared with you that is not safe in you.”
Brown states that her research revealed that Trust can be described by using the acronym BRAVING.
B – Boundaries are respected by all sharing thoughts.
R – Reliability – a scale that if I got on it over and over and over again, would be the same.
A – Accountability – we own our mistakes and make apologies and make amends.
V – Vault – what we share, we hold in confidence. We only share what is ours to share, never about other people.
I – Integrity – choosing courage over comfort. Choosing what’s right over what’s easy, and practice it.
N – Non-judgemental – we can be in a struggle without being judged by ourselves and by our people. We cannot feel judged.
G – Generosity – be generous with each other by telling each other what and how we are feeling about each other, even when it is about our disappointment with each other. You can say, “Here’s what I feel about what has happened or not happened.”
