The Seven Habits of Effective People

In The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven Covey introduces the concept of paradigm shift and helps the reader understand that different perspectives exist. Covey also introduces the Maturity Continuum: dependence, independence and interdependence. Each of Covey’s first three habits is intended to help achieve independence. The next three habits are intended to achieve interdependence. The final, 7th habit is intended to maintain these achievements. The 7 habits are:

1. Be Proactive.
2. Begin with the end in mind.
3. First Things First.
4. Think win-win.
5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
6. Synergize.
7. Sharpen the saw.

I will elaborate on each habit in the following days. You can also check my website for lesson plans for each habit at www.summiteducation.ca.
