Non-Academic Practical Time Table for Children at Home

Gavin McCormack sent me an email for suggestions for children/students to learn at home that are practical and enjoyable. I love his ideas and I think parents and children/students will love these ideas as well:

Monday
9:00 – 10:1 5 Write a letter, then post the letter
10:15 – 11:00 – Read a recipe, Bake some cupcakes
11:15 – 12:15 – Count your savings, vacuum the house
12:15 – 1:15 – Parents and children/students have lunch together at a table
1:15 – 1:35 – Watch a documentary, make a cardboard clock
1:35 – 2:45 – Make a Wish-list, practice skipping, teach a sibling, design a T-shirt

Tuesday
9:00 – 10:45 – Make a shopping list, design a recipe
10:45 – 11:00 – Design a menu for dinner, build a marble run
11:00 – 11:15 – Snack
11:15 – 12:15 – Build something from cardboard, Research an annual plant
12:15 – 1:15 – Family has lunch together at a table
1:15 – 1:35 – Listen to music, make a photo album
1:35 – 2:45 – Wrap and send gifts, fold laundry, varnish a table, arrange some flowers

Wednesday
9:00 – 11:00 – Write a diary, make a comic book, color them in
11:00 – 11:15 – Snack & reflection
11:15 – 12:00 – Plan a party, make a poster
12:00 – 1:15 – Lunch with family and playtime
1:15 – 2:45 – Build a cubby house, learn a song, rehearse a play, practice typing skills

Thursday
9:00 – 10:15 – Paint a family portrait, frame it
10:15 – 11:00 – Make a bridge from cardboard, boil an egg
11:00 – 11:15 Snack & reflection
11:15 – 12:00 – Make a domino rally, play a board game, mop the kitchen, listen to music
12:00 1:15 – Lunch with family & playtime
1:15 – 2:00 – Make a mask, watch the news, make a collage from magazines
2:00 – 2:45 – Dissect a plant, make something from clay, paint old vases

Friday
