Do We Need Rules?

Rules can sometimes get in the way of creativity and relationships. Thomas Edison said, “There are no rules, we’re just trying to accomplish something.”
Nordstrom’s motto is, “Do what you think is right and take care of the customer.”
Rules are essential, there has to be boundaries. Rules are made for people who can’t take responsibility.
I like the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you want them to do unto you.”
I also believe that rules must be based on our beliefs, they support and protect our beliefs. Our beliefs as a team must be created by the team and then the rules are the bottom lines that ensure that when those rules are broken, there is a consequence, a learning experience.
