Perception & Beliefs

Bruce Lipton has a website on Mindfulness and he wrote about Perception & Beliefs on his blog.
He says that Perception is awareness shaped by beliefs. Beliefs “control” perception. Rewrite perception and you rewrite genes and behavior… I am free to change how I respond to the world, so as I change the way I see the world, I change my genetic expression. We are not victims of our genes. We are masters of our genetics.
This seems very logical and accurate to me since I learned about perception and beliefs from William Glasser’s book on Control Theory. According to Glasser, there are 11 levels of perception. Only the very mindful can reach the top level. They are as follows:
11. System Concepts
10. Principles
9. Programs
8. Sequences
7. Categories
6. Relationships
5. Events
4. Transitions
3. Configurations
2. Sensations
1. Intensities
The levels of Perception are the Healing Cycle.
The WHO is The Person I Want to Be – System of Values – # 11.
The WHY is Universal Beliefs, our Social Contract – Prnciples – # 10.
The WHAT is about Rules, our Bottom Line, and Expectations – Knowledge or Program – # 9.
The HOW is about making T-Charts, Y-Charts, and Concept Webbing – Sensory – # 1 – 8.
These Levels of Perception are very helpful for organizations, families and communities to consider when working, playing or studying together.
Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “Change the way you look at something, and the something you look at will be different.” The trouble with some people is that they don’t know how to change the way they look at something. They don’t have a creative mind to change to another perception or belief.
