I’ve read a lot of things about the importance of great mentorship. Also, I’ve had amazing experiences with mentors who have taught me to see ideas I would never have thought of. As a guidance Counsellor, I have mentored many people, young and older. We often do not realize how many people are watching us and learning from our behaviour.
This morning I listened to John Maxwell who spoke of his mentors being authors of books, videos, social media and role models. For Maxwell, Zig Ziglar was such an inspiration and mentor.
For me, I have many such authors whom I learn from. Earlier in my life I discovered Wayne Dyer whose books and audios have inspired me to become someone in charge of my life. He especially helped me to realize that I am the author of my life. I totally agree with Dyer’s quote, “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.” Just a simple thought has helped me tremendously with the many challenges life hurls at us daily.
Take advantage of the numerous mentors who are around you in books, video clips, CDs and social media daily. Learn from those learned influences every day and you will get many of the passions that you want and more.
